Objectives
By implementing the UN Guiding Principles for Business and Human Rights, the NAP aims to improve the human rights situation along the supply and value chains in Germany and worldwide.
Development of the Action Plan
Since 2014, actors from business, politics, civil society, and academia have been involved in the development of the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights.

The three pillars of the UN Guiding Principles form the basis for the four action fields of the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights.
Original version of the NAP

Monitoring
From 2018 to 2020, the implementation status of human rights due diligence by companies will be evaluated as part of a monitoring process. The NAP monitoring is the first and only measure of its kind in the world to date.
UN Guiding Principles
The UN Guiding Principles form the basis for the National Action Plan for Business and Human Rights (NAP) adopted by the Federal Government. They are also an important basis for the implementation of the human rights due diligence in companies.
NAP International
Various countries have compiled and implemented National Action Plans for Business and Human Rights (NAPs) since 2013 in order to implement the Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
